Description: This feature class contains all public, private, charter, daycare/preschool, and higher education schools primarily in the city of Plano. It also includes some higher education schools outside of the city limit (total 17 schools) and also there are several schools within the Plano ISD that fall outside of the city limit (total 12 schools).The schools feature class has the following fields to help categorize the data:School_Category: Public, Private, Charter, Higher EducationSchool_Type: Daycare/ECS (ECS = Early Childhood School/preschool), Elementary, Middle, High School, Senior High, Combined (school serves multiple School_Types), College/University, Trade/TechnicalAdministration: Independent (means Private), PISD, FISD, N/ADaycare includes all licensed and registered child care centers and child care homes through Texas Health and Human Services.Charter schools are not part of an independent school district. They are a publicly funded and free alternative to public schools that are run by their own entities. They are regulated by the Texas Education Agency and data was pulled from the TEA website.Private schools were pulled from several organizations including Texas Private School Accreditation Commission, National Center for Education Statistics, American Montessori Society, and PrivateSchoolReview.com because there is not one governing body that regulates all private schools.Higher education centers were pulled from Texas Workforce Commission and Texas Higher Education Data and include colleges/universities and trade/technical schools.Data was last updated in October 2022.

Description: Healthcare facilities located within the City of Plano categorized by a variety of facility types, including Hospitals, Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, Urgent Care, Home Health, and many others. The Emergency Management department will use this feature class to determine healthcare facilities that contain vulnerable population and might need extra assistance in the event of disaster or evacuation. This data is maintained by the EM department who pulls data from various sources including Texas Health and Human Services (HHSC) and the Resilience Analysis and Planning Tool (RAPT). RAPT provides the urgent care centers.
