What is GIS and What is an Interactive Map?

GIS --- Geographic Information Systems. It is a computer system designed to allow users to collect, manage, and analyze large volumes of spatially referenced and associated attribute data. GIS is used for solving complex research, planning, and management problems. At the City of Plano, GIS has become an essential tool used daily to help solve problems, answer questions, and analyze data. Now the City of Plano is providing this GIS information on the internet with applications that have been developed to provide information at your fingertips.

An interactive map is an online map system that is dynamic in its capability to respond users’ interaction by displaying different map content and/or in different scale according to customer’s demand.
